I just wanted to ask you all to pray for the Renteria family. This is the
family that we have been meeting with on a weekly basis. Mark received a
phone call today from Paty Renteria telling him that Lluvia Renteria (age 6)
was in the hospital.

Mark and I went right away to visit the family. It seems like lluvia was
playing outside when a ladder or set of stairs (lost in translation) fell on
her abdomen. This happened almost a week ago and it took the family 3 days
to find a hospital that would tend to her needs.
It is always a little hard to tell exactly what is wrong without hearing it
first hand from the doctors, but what the family was able to communicate to
us was that she was bleeding internally and had at least bruised her kidney.
She had surgery Friday night and is still in recovery.

Tomorrow Mark and I are going to spend the day with the family at the
hospital. Please keep this family in your prayers!! Paty's husband Chuy
also lost his mother this same week to a heart attack.
We hope to be an encouragement to them and a source of comfort as they work
through these difficult times. Pray with us that they would find thr true
source of strength and hope!

We will write more about the Renteria family in our coming update and tell
you how things are going!
Hello Everyone,
I just returned to the school this week after a two week spring break. The past month has been a good month for us. One of my best friends just got married up in Ohio. Congratulations Matt and Laura Wunderle! W are excited for you!
We have made amazing progress on our house too! The adobe house that I wrote about in my last update is gone! It is completely gone! I’ll send some pictures in a later update. I don’t have them available right now.
My neighbor Kiki’s came and offered to tear down and drag out the house at an amazing price. He tore it down and drug it out for $250.00. Now he is building a block wall for us that will function as a bearing wall and a fence to keep my son from falling the 8 feet from the top of the property to the driveway below.
My parents came down to visit during spring break and we had a great time. My mom says it was her first trip when she didn’t feel inundated by bugs. My parents took us to the El Paso Zoo and to an Elmo concert in El Paso. Unfortunately, especially for my mom, Mark III spent four of the six days she was here battling a stomach virus. He has recovered fully and is as rambunctious as ever.
The Lord has really been teaching me a lot through our bible study Reading with Understanding “Leyendo con entendimiento.” We are just finishing up Exodus. Perla and I have had a lot of financial ups and downs this month…and those ups and downs often cause doubts. Since we are studying in exodus right now, I have meditated a lot on the Israelites as they entered the desert after living comfortably enslaved to the Egyptians. The question has entered my mind, “Can I really give thanks for the manna the Lord has provided us?” Honestly, never in my life, could I have answered yes until now. I have always said thank you Lord for your blessings, but never for your provisions.
Now, I realize that this may sound selfish. I’m not even going to pretend that it’s not. As a husband and father of two, God’s challenge to trust him daily is a challenge. Today, I want to praise the Lord that he is teaching our hearts to trust and obey and be grateful for His provision. This lesson has been a blessing.
Anyway, please keep us in your prayers…and let us know if there is anything we can be praying for you too :)
Your Servant in Christ,
Mark Livengood
